Odessa, Texas, is a beautiful place to live, work, and play. And in the midst of COVID-19, playing is more important now than ever before. While the summer of 2020 looks a bit different, the things to do in Odessa this summer are still plentiful and we encourage you to check them out.

Living in Odessa: Things To Do Summer 2020
There are several outdoor activities in Odessa that are fun for the whole family. The Odessa Meteor Crater is one such activity. Even if you’ve visited before, it’s worth another trip to explore around the second largest meteor crater in the U.S., a hole 550 feet wide and 100 feet deep. The Monahans Sandhills State Park, a unique desert destination, is a fun place for all ages. Called an ocean of sand, visitors can surf the dunes and explore the sandy “waves” by day. Come evening, spread out a blanket, unload the fried chicken, and witness a sunset as you’ve never experienced before. Make sure to download and print the Junior Ranger activity booklet before heading out!

While many large city-wide events have been canceled, summer fun hasn’t. Neighborhoods in Odessa can get creative and bring fun to their backyards this summer.

  • Twister, with a twist. Sprinkler Twister is always a popular water game. The same great Twister, with a sprinkler added to the mix! Simply place the Twister board in the yard and set up a sprinkler nearby. The slippery fun makes it more exciting to go from left-hand-blue to right-hand-yellow.
  • Ultimate neighborhood sprinkler. Get handy with PVC pipe and a drill to create the ultimate neighborhood sprinkler system. With connectors, corner pieces, and a hose, you can create a sprawling system of water fun for all to enjoy.
  • Blind taste tests. Water isn’t the only way to cool off this summer. Gather the neighborhood together for a Summer Blind Taste Test challenge. Ice creams, gelatos, frozen yogurts, summer fruits like watermelon, flavored waters, and mint leaves are just a few ideas!
